Net Zero
In July 2023, Enigmo declared “Net Zero” by 2050 and set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1, 2& 3) emitted through business and other activities to virtually zero by 2050, and is promoting initiatives to reduce GHG emissions and studies to realize the goal.

Enigmo considers climate change as one of the significant issues affecting its business, and discloses “Governance,” “Strategy,” “Risk Management,” and “Metrics and Targets” regarding climate-related risks and opportunities based on the TCFD recommendations.

Status of GHG emissions reduction efforts
The main source of GHG emissions through Enigmo’s operations is Scope 3, which accounts for 99.2% of total emissions. Of these, category 9 Downstream Transportation and Distribution accounts for 92.6%, so it is essential to reduce GHG emissions mainly in this category.
Enigmo’s main business, BUYMA, generates more than a few million transactions per year, mainly CtoC transactions, not only in Japan but also from overseas to Japan, and vice versa. In order to reduce GHG emissions associated with these transactions and deliveries, Enigmo has strengthened its relationships with major delivery companies and encourages BUYMA users to use them as well. Most of the major delivery companies have declared “Net Zero” like us, and their efforts to reduce GHG emissions are linked to our Scope 3 Category 9 Downstream Transportation and Distribution GHG emissions reductions.
In addition, we will continue to reduce GHG emissions in other Scope 3 categories by purchasing products and services from vendors that have declared “Net Zero”.
Waste
Enigmo is working to reduce waste by recycling clothing and other items through BUYMA’s ALL-IN service in efforts to realize a sustainable society. We are also working to reduce waste by promoting the use of “My Bottle” and a paperless office environment.
